Looks like we have our starter next year. Imagine Tanner will back him up and we can redshirt any high school qb that comes in. Also have the IMG kid walking on to

Sweet! Takes some of the sting away from the season and horrendous QB play. This guy has the tools to start from day 1. A good friend/coach in Cali went to a few of his games this year and thinks he's the real deal and perfect fit for our offense.

Vic is our starter next barring anything extreme. I see Green and Morgan as backups and Anexestad as a RS (I think Anexestad has potential to be great)

Former Michigan commit. My Michigan friends love Vic V. They say he is the most popular QB in Ann Arbor

Now we're talkin'...

This is exciting. I was just thinking the visit must not have gone well if we haven't heard anything yet - and BOOM there it was. Go Gophers!

AWESOME!!! Just great news!!! Clearly our best QB recruit maybe ever? Who has committed to the Gophers and looked better on tape than this guy? We get a couple JC linemen, add the 23 guys in the hopper, keep our core from the leadership council and the redshirt freshmen and we look very different next year!!! Very nice!!!

Awesome commit. And one of the all-time great names...

I feel like Fleck knew, told Demry and Demry decided to transfer. Could just be a coincidence but PJ isn’t a dumb guy. He knows what he needs to win. That does not include Demry at QB

After just reading through the "Sky is Falling" Transfer thread, this picked me up

Welcome to the Gophers Victor Viramontes!

Viramonte was first a Michigan recruit, and then a late commit to Cal. Not bad at all. He left Cal after they fired Coach Dykes. Not much of a offer sheet this time around, but probably many reasons for that. Could be a s simple as teams with solid Quarterbacking already have no need to look at a J.C.

Focus on the first and looks like we may have gotten a solid, old school, dual threat, D1-A QB!

Here's what Cal Coach Sonny Dykes was saying about him in '16.

http://www.ibabuzz.com/beartalk/2016/02/03/cal-football-victor-viramontes/

"Viramontes, a senior at Norco High, brings a unique resume to Berkeley. He is 6-foot-1, 240 pounds, and used that power to compile crazy numbers during his prep career.

Viramontes passed for 4,680 yards and 42 touchdowns in three varsity seasons, and ran for 4,190 yards and 53 TDs. As a senior last fall, he accounted for 2,085 passing yards and 21 TDs along with 1,112 yards on the ground and 17 more TDs.

Coach Sonny Dykes is beyond intrigued by what Viramontes potentially brings to the table.

“If you go back and you look over the last 10 years in college football and look at teams that have won national championships, the thing that they have in common is they have a quarterback who’s been able to get you three yards when you need three yards,” Dykes said, referring to the likes of Cam Newton and Cardale Jones.

“A big, physical quarterback that on third-down-and-3, you can have some type of quarterback run game where you can equalize the numbers in the box and run the ball versus man coverage. Because you’re going to see a lot of man on third-down and medium, third-down and short.

“When you’ve got your running back blocking for your quarterback, you can run the ball effectively against six people in the box. It’s a great equalizer when your quarterback can run, and particularly when he’s a big, physical runner.

“It’s going to be like watching the Super Bowl Sunday. How many times is Cam Newton going to carry the ball when they need to win the game?”

Dykes said there are no plans to make Viramontes into a fullback or linebacker.

“He’s one of those guys you watch his tape you’re kind of like, `Wow,’ “ Dykes said. “ He’s a great leader, plays with tremendous enthusiasm and toughness. He can throw the football – he’s got a big arm. And he’s obviously a very good runner.

“The kid’s got a lot of upside. He’s a really interesting prospect. I think he’s definitely a quarterback, and I’m excited about what he develops into.”

Great news. Great opportunity for him to walk into early playing time in a P5 conference too. Welcome aboard!

Its clear Fleck told Demry and thats why he left.
Row the boat...
