They are a fun group to watch, and the program in general seems set up to be pretty good into the near future with the way Pitino continues to recruit.

The best-case scenario for this program is to follow a blueprint like Wisconsin has. Find good high school players who fit your system. Guys who will be in the program for three or four years and get better each season. That's how Minnesota can compete in the one-and-done era.

There is no doubt sustained success won't come easy for the Gophers. Michigan State will always be good as long as Tom Izzo is there. Wisconsin, Ohio State, Purdue, Indiana, Michigan and Maryland are either good right now or won't be down for long.

The Big Ten is really good, but the high school basketball scene in Minnesota is as good as it has maybe ever been. For the Gophers, keep the majority of in-state kids at home and let Pitino and assistant coach Kimani Young use their ties out east to attract a few more talented players like Isaiah Washington on a national level.

For the first time in a long time, there is at least reason to believe a formula is in place to make this program competitive on a regular basis.

Go Gophers!!

Hopefully we can sustain this success. I am not sure why we always have to look to becky for a model on how to do things. The new practice facility will help and it blows away what Wisconsin has.

Go Gophers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
