Gopher Football Hosts Turkey Drive - The Difference $5 Can Make

Minnesota’s football team is hosted a turkey drive on this evening from 5-6:30 p.m. at TCF Bank Stadium. Players and staff donated their own money to purchase 200 turkeys. The team is working with seven different local organizations to distribute the turkeys for the Thanksgiving holiday.

They partnered with organizations like Bolder Options, Loaves and Fishes, and other organizations that benefit families. 160 of the Gopher football family participated, all the football players contributed $5 of their own money, and 30 players chose to donate more. P.J. Fleck picked up any extra costs.

KARE 11: Gophers football team gives back to the community

The University of Minnesota football team collected money and bought over 200 turkeys to give away to families in need on Tuesday night at TCF Bank Stadium.

Gophers head football coach P.J. Fleck said that he spoke to the team's leadership council last week about doing the event.

"I want to continue to make sure this team understands the importance of serving and giving. That your life is not about you, it's about what you can do for other people and what you can do to serve and give and make other people's lives better," Fleck said.
