per Shooter:
Gophers sophomore QB Demry Croft uses a sleight of hand in adeptly faking handoffs.
“We’ve been teaching that for a long time,” coach P.J. Fleck said. “I think that’s where he’s made the most progress. It’s
not even that you just give the ball or pull the ball, it’s how you do it. It’s like a magic trick.”
Croft, who rushed for 183 yards and three TDs in the 54-21 victory over Nebraska a week ago, even fooled his coach on a fake handoff.
“I’m on the headset — this never happens — and I think Rodney (running back Smith) had the ball, and all of a sudden, I see Rodney’s arms because he gets tackled. And I yell ‘fumble!’ Even I thought Rodney had the ball.”
