per Greder:

Gophers running back Rodney Smith is a few big rushing games away from passing David Cobb for seventh on the program’s all-time rushing list.

Smith called Cobb an “older brother” when Smith was a redshirt freshman and Cobb set the single-season rushing record of 1,626 yards in 2014.

Smith started this season at 19th on Minnesota’s all-time rushing list and is now 266 yards behind Cobb’s career mark of 2,893. Smith, now a redshirt junior, would need to rush for more than his 79 yards a game to pass Cobb this year but the Gophers face the Big Ten’s two best rushing defenses to finish the regular season.
