Cashman with two sacks vs Mildcats last year, Richardson with two sacks on Thorson (one a fumble recovery sack); Ju Huff also scooped up a Thorson fumble), DeLatti with one sack, Coughlin with a half/sack...Shoube Timms had one as well and Elmore had a half sack.

Northwestern oline has given up 25 sacks this year; rank 90th in the nation in protecting the QB (Gophs rank 24th). True freshman playing at RT, a former walk-on at one of the guard spots.

Cashman had 9 unassisted tackles total last year vs NW. Shenault and McGhee were next best with 4 each, matching Winfield and Lynn. NW top tackler vs Gophs was Anthony Walker, he went early to NFL. The big NW defensive end, Xavier Washington, not playing due to off-season cocaine arrest. Fitz running a true frosh at DE. Trae Williams, who started at cb last year, still trying to come back from achilles. NW with a rs frosh at middle lb. They have a couple of two star cornerbacks I think Tyler, Phil, Rashad might be able to beat in coverage.

They ran Justin Jackson 22 times last year for 90 yards...he has not looked as good this year...he was in a brace last week and gained just 46 yards on 25 carries vs Purdue. 9 carries for 25 vs UW, 17 carries for 41 vs MSU, 7 for 18 vs Duke, 16 for 66 vs PSU, 25 for 93 vs IA. Their top WR from last year, Austin Carr, is on the Saints roster.

We should be able to get after Thorson and should be able to keep Jackson in-check. I think we can match up with their WRs.

PJ and Kirk and Cally and Burns and Simon put up 400 yards in beating NW last year in Evanston...they should have good plan for attacking them. Gophs beat them despite a 14-25 day from Mitch. Smith and Brooks and Mitch ran well. Still, Woz, Carter, Woli, Smith, Brooks were the Gopher rcvrs. Still had a 30 yard KR also (111 yards total).

Gophs return 7 guys who were offensive starters from last year's NW game: Greene, Calhoun, Wright, Smith, Woz, Still, Beebe. Carpenter nailed FGs from 19, 30 and 42 last year. Santoso averaged 40 yards on 6 punts.

Would be nice to beat them for fourth time in five years...always feel we get a little extra from our Illinois/IN guys vs NW and IL...fun to see PJ, Callahan, Demry, Richardson, Woz, Merrick, Shenault, Huff, Huff, Oseland have big games...Zo Craighton out...PJ went and got AutmanBell, Estes, Hitchcock, Schmitz, Osezi from Illinois/IN in last class; has Teague, Henderson and SoriMarin committed from IL for 2018 class; want to impress the IL and IN prospects with your play if they come and watch.

Here's to hoping Fitz used up all his luck with OT wins vs Iowa, MSU and NE...we should have some luck coming our way after close losses to MD, PU, MSU and IA.

Some interesting information Swingman. So is NW dealing with a lot of injuries on defense or just young?

Fitzgerald played nine true freshman in week one...most he has ever played.

Five true frosh in the two-deep for this week plus the kicker is a true frosh.

Six redshirt frosh in the two deep for Fitz this week plus the returner.

Two true sophs and seven redshirt sophs in the two deep this week plus the snapper.

Good returner Solomon Vault lost for season.

Lost a DB Watkins August 29 with knee for season, another Bullock after week one with foot, another Campbell to a shoulder, Williams has the bad achilles, McShepard and McGhee are back-up dbs who have missed time...linebacker Glackin hurt vs Bowling Green, another lb Fox has missed time...a WR transfer Jalen Brown who was supposed to help is out...

Moe Almasri is listed as one of backup cornerbacks this week...he is a walk on who transferred from Robert Morris last year

Man, they are young.

The key will be if we can cover their wideouts.

Looks like TJ is out for the season...

What?
Guessing it was that play where he caught it on the sideline and could have gone out of bounds but instead he turned upfield and took a shot to the knees. Such a bummer!

Ayinde and Poock two other guys with big games versus NW in past and probably drooling to get after Thorson and Jackson and crew...Ayinde leading tackler in 2015 with 7 solo and 2 assists, Poock 3rd leading tackler with 6 solo, two assists...

Also, good to note Gophers have two guys who beat NW as offensive coordinators last year in Kirk and Ed W...should be another good game plan.

Channel 5 news said it was a broken wrist, not a knee issue.

Well if he took a shot to the knees and that caused him to catch himself funny with his hand, that could result in a broken wrist.
