I like to read the opposition's sports section leading up to and after games like this. Nebraska sports columnists reaction to the blow-out was as you would expect:

"It’s not the most points Nebraska has ever given up. It’s not the most yards. But the absolute domination, the complete disappointment against an offense that, to be blunt, has had trouble moving the ball against tackling dummies most of the season, was all encompassing."

"Riley's staff, on this particular day, arguably failed to meet even minimum standards of competence. Nebraska was taken to the woodshed by a Minnesota team that had dropped five of its previous six games. The Gophers, in their first season under P.J. Fleck, were coming off a 33-10 loss at Michigan in which the Wolverines gained 371 rushing yards, averaging 10 per carry."

Tom Shatel, in the Omaha World-Herald, was even more critical:[URL="http://www.omaha.com/huskers/football/shatel-huskers-showed-lack-of-heart-a-sign-mike-riley/article_5c24e362-c733-11e7-905a-e7c25c9f8.html

I'm afraid that Mike Riley = dead man walking. That's a shame, cause he's a really good guy, but yeah, it's time.

Riley is 64 years old. Perhaps he is looking forward to retirement with a 7 or 8 million buyout.

Bo Pelini makes $128,000 / month through 2019.
Riley would make $170,000 / month through 2021 with his buyout.
$7, 152, 000 in checks over 2 years.

That’s peanuts to wealthy Nebraska boosters, who honestly believe that Nebraska should be the same thing as Alabama and can’t figure out why that isn’t the case.
