From ESPN:

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh said Monday that "it's likely" that redshirt freshman Brandon Peters will get his first collegiate start at quarterback Saturday night against Minnesota.

Peters replaced fifth-year senior John O'Korn during the second quarter of a 35-14 victory over Rutgers. Peters led the Wolverine offense to touchdowns on his first three drives in what amounted to his first significant playing time as a college quarterback. He finished the game 10-of-14 passing for 124 yards and a touchdown.

Harbaugh said he wasn't ready to name a starter this early in the week, but he was happy with the way Peters played against Rutgers.

"We're going in the way we have, preparing both quarterbacks," he said. Not naming a starter today, and we'll see how the week progresses. Our system is a meritocracy where the best players play. It was time for Brandon to play. He went in and acquitted himself very well."

Fresh meat.

May his first start ever, mirror Demrys

Seriously though, he looked decent from what I saw on Saturday. He's got the tools and was a very highly-rated recruit (like most at Mich, of course). That said, it wasn't as if he carried the team on his shoulders upon coming into the game. They ran the ball extremely well on the drives I saw and then asked him to complete some easy throws off play-action. Perhaps he does some things differently than Can O'Korn and Rutgers wasn't prepared. I'm hoping that's the case and a week of scheming will have young Mr. Peters looking unprepared. I'm guessing there's a reason he wasn't playing the past few weeks as the Mich offense floundered.

Without Peters, we might well have won that game. With him, very doubtful - he will give the Gophers fits.

Hmmm...a QB has a good run in relief and now he's the QB of the future going into his first start.

Sounds a lot like Croft after his relief appearance against MSU.

Interesting to see how he responds under pressure before 100,000 fans or so.
