Not a single back had more than 15 carries? Only one had over 9 carries?

This one is 100% on the OC and his boss for allowing it to happen.

Look at UK - Tenn boxscore. Similar QB play, but their back gets the ball for 27 carries and they limit the passing and give their team a chance to win a rivalry game.

Zero confidence in our OC and hoping PJ isn’t permanently tied to him. This was the kind of lack of judgement that will be hard to come back from.

Ummmm, we have 3 pretty good backs.

They could have put LeVeon Bell back there and given it to him 30 times and there wouldn't have been monster rushing gains. The only play that was somewhat consistently there was the jet sweep, which has been the case for the Gophers in a lot of the trophy games and other games against good competition in recent years. Our guys up front simply can't consistently open the holes necessary to beat teams up with a steady diet of inside runs.

Gophers are a pretty mediocre efficiency "running team" even in the best years.

Iowa was loading the box, taking away running between the tackles - Iowa bet Croft wasn’t going to beat them thru the air and they also played the receivers with underneath coverage - what the offense missed was going over the top and deep passing plays that a qb playing his second start wasn’t going to throw. The play calling wasn’t the issue, a lack of experience was.

Yup

Croft hurt himself by the suspension. Hopefully, gaining more experience in the remaining games will result in better decision making at QB. He is who he is.

The Iowa defense simply played better than our offense, and game played to the GOphers' weaknesses. The big difference was the B1G experienced Iowa coaching staff.

This is a learning season for everyone involved - the players, the coaching staff. They are not getting blown away in the first five B1G games. With the exception of Purdue, they lost by a TD or less.

Maryland 24-31 L
Purdue 17-31 L
Michigan State 27-30 L
Illinois 24-17 W
Iowa 10-17 L

They have four tough games remaining. The question is, can they learn enough playing together to upset any of the remaining teams on the schedule?

So I assume you're cool with the pass to Still? The pass to Woz?

Tyler Johnson also dropped the best pass of Demry's career.

Even Purdue would have been 1 TD if not for the pick-six near the end - and we might even have won that one. Next year we will win a lot of these close games - and Gophers still have a shot at NW and Nebraska, maybe even Michigan.
