Sorry about the title (an accidental keystroke). Anyway, Potulny's team defeated the Badgers in OT.

That didn’t make the sudden-death finish any less disheartening for the Badgers.

Denver Pierce scored his second goal of the game with 17.1 seconds left in the extra session to give Northern Michigan a 5-4 victory over the sixth-ranked Badgers at the Resch Center.

UW battled back with third-period goals by Jason Ford and Trent Frederic, but a string of negative impressions earlier made those only extend the game.

“It was a quick turnaround right into overtime,” Frederic said, “and it’s a bummer that they scored there.”

From Granato’s point of view, it was perhaps a fitting result for a Badgers team that was outplayed in man-advantage situations and committed the cardinal sin of allowing a goal while playing with a 5-on-3 power play.

UW’s winning streak ended at three games, while the Wildcats won a fourth straight under new head coach Grant Potulny, who wants his team to make an up-tempo adjustment the way that the Badgers did last season.
