per the Quad City Times:

P.J. Fleck energized Minnesota fans with plenty of offseason talk.

But at 0-3 in the Big Ten, the first-year Golden Gophers coach is remaining quiet about who will start at quarterback for Minnesota in this week’s game against Illinois.

"I want to continue to watch them perform," Fleck said, indicating that practice performance will settle who will start this week.

Beaten out for the chance to start earlier this year by Conor Rhoda, Demry Croft is back in the mix after replacing Rhoda late in the first half and throwing three fourth-quarter touchdown passes in a 30-27 loss to Michigan State last weekend.

The lineup change came after Rhoda made several mistakes early in the game, dropping a snap, fumbling and taking a knee accidentally following a low snap.

Fleck views growth within his program as a process.

"All I know is that we have to be get better today than we were the day before," Fleck said. "This group has shied away from what we haven’t done. Nobody is whining or complaining about injuries, nobody is whining or complaining about a lack of depth. We just go."
