Seems like every thread here lately morphs into a Fleck vs. Claeys argument with all sorts of subjective arguments thrown in the mix. One of the most common quasi-subjective arguments thrown around is recruiting rankings. In the longer term, I think a better metric showing program/coaching/recruiting success is a team's number of players in the NFL. Minnesota is towards the bottom of the list but I think we need to get to at least the mid-pack to compete successfully every year with Wisconsin, Iowa, and others. I personally don't think Claeys could have gotten the Gophers to that upper level. Kill/Claeys had several years to get there and didn't do it (yet)...thus the Fleck hiring. This list of NFL players by team mimics team standings over the past decade or so (I forgot how good Rutgers used to be).

#NFL B10 Team
41 Ohio State
28 Wisconsin
27 Michigan
27 Michigan State
27 Penn State
25 Iowa
24 Nebraska
17 Rutgers
16 Purdue

10 Minnesota
9 Indiana
