2017 College Football Head Coach Fire and Hire Thread

Nope. It doesn't work like that.

I know you'd like to pretend that such a complex thing can be boiled down to so few factors. It makes life easy, that way. But you can't discount the other billion factors. Sorry

Yes, it does work like that. It's not literally the only thing, but it's by far the main factor.

CBS: Kent State coach Paul Haynes will not return in 2018 after five seasons

Another college football job has come open.

On Wednesday, Kent State announced that coach Paul Haynes would not return for the 2018 season. Haynes' contract was up following the 2017 season. The Golden Flashes were 2-10 this year and Haynes was 14-45 in five seasons.

"Making a coaching change is never easy," athletic director Joel Nielsen said in a statement. "As an alum, Paul gave his all for this university and to Golden Flashes football, and moved the program forward in many ways. We thank Paul and his family for their service and commitment to Kent State student-athletes."

The best list is here, http://footballscoop.com/the-scoop/ at the bottom of each days scoop, there's a link to a list of every open position.

Not Sure how reputable this guy is but a few media members I follow have retweeted this. Also, he is a verified twitter account but that means little these days.

Scott Frost & Nebraska have a deal in place: https://twitter.com/larsanderson71/status/934213456894529537

I have a close friend with deep ties to Nebraska football and he's been saying the same thing for a week. Which sucks, because I think Frost is a good coach.

I'm just not sure how Nebraska fans are going to handle more years of a lot of offense and a little defense.

Anderson is very reputable. It doesn't mean that the report is true, but I'm more inclined to believe it if it's him reporting it, as opposed to someone like the clown who claimed that Kelly to Florida was a "done deal" more than a week ago.

Chip Kelly reportedly turned down Florida and had a walk around campus with UCLA.

So right now it's looking like:

UCLA - Kelly
Florida - last second play for Frost
Nebraska - Likely Frost

In other news, Kliff Kingsbury is 6-6 and going to a bowl, so he probably saved his job.

Don't count Arizona State out for Chip Kelly if they fire Todd Graham as expected this weekend.

Wow, short tenure for Kelly at Florida. I can't believe he left for UCLA after barely a week as Florida's head coach.

Bill Moos press conference said he and Riley talked for 15 minutes. Really ? It took that long to say we are an embarrassed and unrealistic fan base, bye, bye.

Why isn't Schiano being mentioned for any of these jobs?

With all the additional openings, do we need to give PJ a big raise to make sure nobody snatches him up after these last two games?

Schiano did very well at Rutgers, for a time. And that was in the Big East.

Arizona and Arkansas have linemen that were on the Gopher's list...

Already seeing tweets that Frost’s wife if a native of Scottsdale Arizona. He knows the PAC 12.

The guy can name his salary.

Of all the schools looking for a coach, who is most likely to screw it up the most?

I say Tennessee.
