ESPN: Dan Hurley calls coaching UConn 'a dream come true'

Dan Hurley says he has landed at his dream coaching destination.

Hurley was introduced Friday as the University of Connecticut's 19th men's basketball coach, replacing Kevin Ollie, who was fired earlier this month amid an NCAA investigation and after a second consecutive losing season.

Hurley, 45, who left Rhode Island after six years and two consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, has agreed to a six-year, incentive-laced deal. He will have a base salary of $400,000 but will make at least $2.75 million in his first season, with supplemental income from media fees, speaking appearances and other perks. He could make up to $3.5 million in the contract's final year.

He also has a chance to earn up to another $1 million per year for reaching certain athletic and academic goals.

Pretty funny because he has told people for years that he wanted the ACC but he got a ton of money and does not have to go into that cauldron. He is very tied in on the recruiting side and a wonderful coach.

ESPN: Skip Prosser's son, Mark Prosser, named Western Carolina coach

Mark Prosser, son of the late Wake Forest coach Skip Prosser, has been hired as Western Carolina's men's basketball coach.

An assistant at Winthrop the last six seasons, Mark Prosser was introduced at a news conference at Western Carolina on Tuesday. He succeeds Larry Hunter, who stepped down earlier this month after 13 seasons.

Prosser helped Bucknell, Wofford and Winthrop to NCAA tournament appearances during his tenure at each school. He was head coach at Brevard College for a year before joining Pat Kelsey's staff at Winthrop in 2013.

Kelsey called Mark Prosser "a grand slam hire" for Western Carolina. Wofford coach Mike Young says Prosser "checks all the boxes that one would look for in a head coach."

FIU parts ways with basketball coach Anthony Evans

Florida International has parted ways with head basketball coach Anthony Evans.

FIU announced Monday evening that Evans' contract wouldn't be renewed.

"I want to thank Anthony for the job he did with our men's basketball program," FIU athletic director Pete Garcia said in a statement. "He recruited and produced good character -- student-athletes that were a respectful group of young men. He did a phenomenal job helping improve our APR, graduation rate and overall academics in men's basketball and got our student-athletes more involved in the community. I want to thank him for his service and bringing stability to the FIU men's basketball program."

Ultimately, however, Evans didn't win enough to keep his job.

The Panthers were 65-94 in five seasons under Evans, including a 33-56 record against Conference USA teams.

Todd Lickliter - Had Brad Stevens as an assistant coach at Butler
Matthew Graves - Was an Assistant coach for Brad Stevens at Butler
Walter McCarty - Was an Assistant coach for Brad Stevens with the Celtics

Wonder who helped bring that staff together....

Interestingly, Graves was on Butler's staff before Stevens, and is also two years older than Stevens. Now, Stevens is a wildly successful NBA head coach and Graves is an assistant at Evansville.

CBS: Jimmy Patsos resigns as Siena coach after verbal abuse allegations surfaced from team manager

Jimmy Patsos resigned on Friday afternoon from his post as coach of the Siena Saints.

The resignation comes after news surfaced last week that Patsos was accused of verbally abusing a Siena team manager who lives with obsessive compulsive disorder. Last Friday, on April 6, Patsos held a press conference and defended himself, stating, "I never taunted, harassed or abused this young man. We did know that he had OCD. He was adamant that he wanted to be treated the same as anyone else."

A formal complaint was logged against Patsos in February, according to the Times Union of Albany. The alleged harassment of the team manager was not the only issue regarding Patsos.

CBS: Siena hires Jamion Christian away from Mount St. Mary's

Jamion Christian, a rising figure in the coaching industry, has agreed in principle to be the next coach at Siena, a source confirmed Wednesday. Christian will leave his post at Mount St. Mary's, where he spent the past six seasons and went 101-95 and made the NCAA Tournament twice.

Siena came open late after controversy emerged regarding former coach Jimmy Patsos, who resigned after being accused of verbal abuse against a team manager, among other misdoings that were reported.

With Christian heading up to greater Albany, that means four jobs are still unfilled: Chicago State, Delaware State, Detroit and The Mount.

Weird story out of Florida/Nebraska: Mike White hired former Northwestern assistant Armon Gates after an "extensive National search" to take over for Dusty May who left the Gators to become head coach at Florida Atlantic. About a month after taking the job at UF, Gates was out at UF and has just been hired at Nebraska.

Former Indiana HC Mike Davis on the move, per CBS:

The Detroit Mercy Titans men's basketball program had a coaching search extend more than two months.

But on Tuesday, it was all seemingly worth it. Mike Davis, the former Indiana coach who spent the past six seasons at Texas Southern, took the Detroit Mercy job. It's a big win for that program, as Davis made the NCAA Tournament four times at TSU. Given how tough that job is, it spoke to how good of a coach Davis is.

So now Detroit Mercy has its guy.

And Texas Southern is in search of his replacement.

There was a funny posting late last week - Jeff Goodman on Twitter said something like "Mike Davis takes the Detroit job," clearly not realizing that would be ambiguous. The responses were fast and furious - many Pistons fans freaking out at the thought of Mike Davis being their new coach. I LOL'ed.
