Nebraska coach Mike Riley met with reporters Monday and gave several updates on the various injuries plaguing his team.

One of the biggest question marks — at least health-wise — leading up to the Huskers’ Big Ten opener against Rutgers on Saturday is at right tackle. Matt Farniok has a broken bone in his right wrist, Riley said, and will get a pin in it. Farniok will not practice with the team this week, but could be available against Rutgers, just not in a full-time capacity.

Nebraska’s starting right tackle, David Knevel, missed the Oregon and Northern Illinois games with an ankle injury, but Riley said there is a better chance of him returning to the field against the Scarlet Knights. Brenden Jaimes and Christian Gaylord would be in line for reps at right tackle if neither Knevel nor Farinok could play.

In other injury news, linebacker Marcus Newby will be “out for a while” due to a hamstring injury according to Riley. Newby has 19 tackles in three games this season.

Running back Tre Bryant and safety Joshua Kalu are both questionable for the Rutgers game, Riley said. Both players were held out of the Northern Illinois loss

Michigan is one of those teams that might have a better guy right behind their starter...

One of my best friends live in Minneapolis but is from Ann Arbor so I watch a lot of Michigan football. They have a ton of talent behind black. They'll be fine.

Nebraska doesn't appear to have much depth

Farniok gave up about a dozen sacks or qb hurries against Northern. The Huskers are reeling.
