Not sure when this chant started, but it has definitely been very common at TCF, especially when leaving the stadium. In my opinion, I don't think that the chant really represents how most gopher fans are. In my experience, other teams' fans have always thought Minnesota fans have been nice and respectable. I like Minnesota to be know as a very welcoming place, and this chant definitely takes away from that culture. I haven't traveled to many other stadiums, so I don't know if chants like these are very common. I'd like to hear some thoughts on why people like or dislike this chant.

Hey Brian, Great to see that you signed up for a Gopherhole account. Say hello to your to your dad for me, as well as the rest of the Iowa coaching staff.

Similar to the hockey fans still chanting "Drop the puck, Sioux Suck." at every game regardless of the opponent. There is some nostalgia involved in the chant at this point that I would hate to lose. It's relatively clean compared to some of the student chants. I wish we had something more positive like Nebraska's call and answer on Go Big Red! I was born in Iowa and my family moved here when I was 5. I'm fine with putting Iowa down to make myself feel better about our team. I'm not super proud of that, but it works.

Definitely more popular among the student section, present company included when I was a student.

I've seen it break out at away games (not Iowa), non-football sporting events (volleyball, soccer, ect), homecoming concerts, and even graduation.

Is it a little over the top sometimes? Yes. Is it good to have a dedicated rival that we are competitive with year in and year out? Yes.

I'll live with it

Not sure what others think, but I find it more tongue in cheek. And I know some Iowa fans and the chant drives them nuts. Which makes it more funny.

When you tear down goal posts in our stadium, you'll get hate chants for eternity...

I'm a student right now and don't remember that one. That changes my perspective!

Their fans (two strangers with their significant others still in their seats) had sex in our stadium bathroom. No matter how many years pass, or how much of a dump our old stadium was, that act alone deserves said chant.

Go Gophers!!

I've done a complete flip-flop on this one. Once you understand the meaning, it's brilliant. The Oregon State announcers said it best in the 4th Quarter when the "Who Hates Iowa" chant started: "As you can hear, the Minnesota fans have already moved on". That is the essense of it.

Plus, it really energizes the fans. Case in point, we were part of the Tunnel Team last year. The woman who was escorting us around was surprised at how quiet the group was one week. Suddenly, as loud as she could, she yelled Who Hates Iowa? I guess everyone was waiting for that and it was nuts after that.

I'd prefer "Who hates Wisconsin!?", because...well, Wisconsin. What's not to hate?

I don't think it's offensive & don't care if it represents us well or not.

However, I've never thought that it's funny or creative.

It may not be creative, but I do like to see the puzzlement on some visiting fans' faces when they hear it, or the mock offense on those round, pimply, ugly Iowan faces.

It's dumb, but better than the Wisc student chant so I'll take it.

The chant has a long tradition. I first remember it during the Lute Olson/ Jim Dutcher era. And, yes, we actually hated Iowa. At the time I worked in a firm with way toooooo many Iowans and some took it a little personally. Perhaps, my "WE HATE IOWA" button was a bit much.

Not a chant per se, but Purdue fans shout "IU SUCKS" at the end of one of their songs.

Doesn't move the needle on my opinion of Badger fans. All time low was hit when they had the mock Obama in a prison outfit getting lynched. Hard to top that one.

Going to the Iowa game this year and I am betting that we could win the game, have Goldy plant our flag mid field, have the whole gopher crowd shout the "Who Hates Iowa" chant and 15 minutes later have an Iowa fan tell me at the bar afterwards that at least we aren't as bad as Wisconsin fans.

Nice to see the Snowflake generation is starting to post on GH!

If you've ever had to put up with a roomful of Hawkeye fans prior to the game, at Stub and Herbs, or another watering hole, and listen to the screaming (inside, mind you), Lets Go Hawks, for about two hours .......I don't care what people yell about them. Their fans are obnoxious. Particularly the traveling crew.
