P.J. Fleck's change mission extends into Gophers' stands

^yep.

Football in the Twin Cities is basically a buffet with two choices: Green Bean Casserole and Lutefisk. Very few people would describe either as being particularly good, but it seems pretty silly to act surprised and put out that 90% of the folks pick the casserole.

I'm not a Vikings fan anymore, but they are usually above average, and have very rarely (Les Steckel year comes to mind) hit the level of rock bottom that the Gophers have several times over the last 40 years.

I have to disagree with "above average." Since 1980, the Vikings have been right around .500 year in and year out. They've had a run to the NFC championship game once each decade (twice with Denny), which keeps fans just happy enough. And they have avoided Brewster-like 1-11. "Perennial powerhouse," as Hello-World said, was in the 1970s.

They must have always beat the "right" teams.

Since 2000:

Vikings - 137-143-1 -- .488
Gophers - 105-108 -- .493
Yep....but it doesn't matter to the purple a holes controlling the media in this state....

Yep. There, for a moment, I thought we were going to be told to wear collared shirts, sit in the front row and greet everyone with respect.

“He walked into the meeting room,” recalled Davey, delivering a visual through his play-by-play, “and stood in front of us and said, ‘Sit up straight. Take your hats off. If you’ve got an earring, take it out. I’m Barry Alvarez. I’m your head football coach and I’m here to win.’”

Maybe don't knock the collared shirts thing until you see how it turns out!! :)

I have a running bit with a buddy who has Purple tix...straight up who will win more games. He always picked the Purple in the past, picked Gophs this year.

Let's look at the coverage of colleges in metro areas with both an NFL & A P-5 team

Seattle
Bay Area (2 of each)
LA (2 of each)
Phoenix
Pittsburgh
Miami
DFW
Denver (I count Colorado)
New Orleans (I count LSU)
DC
Boston

We are looking in a vacuum. How are other P-5 teams covered when there is an NFL team in the same coverage area?
