1978 to 1981.

I chose 4 or more because of last years change to 9 BT games, so even though MN has won 5 BT games in 2 of the last 4 years, and 4 or more BT games in 3 of the last 4 years, I wanted to see when the last time MN Football did this (won 4 BT games in 3 years of a 4 year stretch).

It was the last year of Cal Stoll and the first 3 years of Joe Salem. I was just curious to compare the last 4 years of Big Ten wins to recent, or not so recent, history. Granted, now wins over Wisconsin in that period.

I'll have to look up the stats from 1978 to 1981 (found em). How do they compare to these years?

Okay. While you're looking noticed that the last team that won at least 9 games was Mason's 2003 team. It went 5-3 in the Big Ten. Their victories were over:

Penn State - (1-7) 3-9
NW - (4-4) 6-7
Illinois - (0-8) 1-11
Indiana - (1-7) 2-10
Wisconsin - (4-4) 7-6

B1G Opponents - (10-30) 19-43

Glad they all counted. That Badger victory makes for happier remembrances.

Cal Stoll's 1973 team went 6-2 in Conference play.

Indiana - (0-8) 2-9
Iowa - (0-8) 0-11
NW - (4-4) 4-7
Purdue - (4-4) 4-7
Illinois - (4-4) 5-6
WI - (3-5) 4-7

B1G Opponents - (15-33) 19-47

Ah, 1978. For two weeks that October, we actually had possession of the Jug, the Axe, and the Pig. Last time we had all three at once.

Holy bleep, I forgot how bad Northwestern was during that late 70's, early 80's era.

Even at their lowest moments, I don't think the Gophs ever sunk that low for an extended period.
