The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has selected National wide receiver Drew Wolitarsky in the supplemental draft in exchange for one of Winnipeg’s third round selections in the 2018 CFL Draft.

Wolitarsky played four seasons with the Minnesota Golden Gophers at wide receiver. He had 130 career catches for 1,749 yards and nine touchdowns.

In his senior season, he was a team captain, named to the All-Big Ten Third Team, while recording 66 receptions for 860 yards and five touchdowns. He was also an Academic All-Big Ten in 2016.

Go Gophers!!

Wish him the best! Maybe him coming to Minnesota will help him transition to Winnipeg quickly.

Interestingly they call him a national (i.e. Canadian). Not sure how he finagled that but this will be a huge help in making the club. He looks like a top "national" setback to me. Could do quite well.

According to article I just read, his mother is a Canadian Citizen and he applied for Citizenship a couple weeks ago which was granted.

Drew was getting talked up on local talk radio on the way in to work. Announcers thought it was a matter of when, not if, Wolitarsky would start making a difference. Bombers are currently weak with Canadian WR. Here is who he has to beat out:

None are considered top Canadian WRs (the Canadian WRs usually play slotback, an inside receiver). That said, not every American figures out the Canadian game so we will see.

It's not too late.

Still thinking about it. Have to find out more info. so that when I go back to Canada I am prepared. Might get interesting because of parent serving in the U.S. military. Not too much benefit though. Just easier going back and forth.

Can you dual Canadian/US citizenship?

Congrats Woli!
I'm hoping he has an exceptional career at Winnipeg.

Well, he is experienced at dropping bombs.

I'll let myself out.
