Penn State 2017-18

On the test/help board a while back the Gopher Hole staff posted this about the search function (I assume it still applies:

Over the 10 or so years of us using the current vBulletin software program to run the message boards, we have registered hundreds of thousands of posts. The message board saves every single one of these posts. When someone uses the search function, it literally searches every single post ever made on this board and spits out the results. With the traffic as high as it is, we often have dozens of people regularly searching at the same time, which puts a tremendous amount of stress on the back-end of the site, and was one of the main reasons why the site would slow down from time to time. We are working with the vendor on a solution.

In the meantime, we recommend using Google to search GopherHole. Just go to Google, and type in your search and add "+ GopherHole" so if you want to search Carter Coughlin, go to Google and type in Carter Coughlin + GopherHole and you will very quickly get many, many threads from years past and it will take you directly to those threads.

Thanks for understanding.

PSU, having lost some key players to transfers, releases its non-conference schedule. It is not impressive:

Still no time table for Teniya Page's return.

Q: What is the latest on Teniya's [Page] health?

CW: Teniya's rehab is going very well. There is no time table on her return, but we are really pleased with her progress and she is coming along. Whenever she is healthy she'll get back out there, but her rehab is going really well and we're happy with her progress.

Q: With Teniya [Page] being out, Amari [Carter], I would assume, moves into that spot as the point guard, what about depth at that position?

CW: We have a little bit of depth at that position. The good thing with Amari is that last year she played both on and off the ball. She and Teniya kind of switched back and forth so it's not much different for her, her role isn't much different. Sarah McMurtry has had a really good spring and summer and offseason so we feel really confident about playing her and getting her some minutes at the point guard position. We're pretty young at the guard spot, when you talk about Sarah McMurtry who hasn't had a ton of minutes, and our freshmen Kamaria McDaniel, Siyeh Frazier. The great thing is they have put in a ton of work in the offseason and we are really pleased with where they are, so we have a lot of confidence in our guard as Teniya recovers and gets better.

Penn State lost an exhibition to Division II Cedarville 59-56.

That didn’t go according to plan.

Penn State led early on and through the end of the first half, displaying some positives on the offensive ends in their half court set, yet they allowed Cedarville to stay in the game through poor execution on the break.

By the time the second half came, the Lady Lions moved away from their half-court offense and elected to push the pace.

Coquese Washington’s young squad turned the ball over 17 times in the game, 13 of which coming in the first half, in their 59-53 loss to the Yellow Jackets.

The Nittany Lions have placed plenty focus on pushing the ball in transition this season, however, much of their offensive struggles could be attributed to the fast paced. Penn State often found themselves with a quality defensive possession and a turnover, only to throw the ball away on the fast break.

“I think we have to have better decision making in transition”, Washington said. “We’re playing with a lot of freshmen and sophomores this season that are trying to figure out how to do that in game situations as opposed to practice.
