per Marcus:

The FBI is conducting an investigation into possible fraud in the Gophers ticket department, a person with knowledge of the situation told the Star Tribune Thursday.

Earlier this year, the U’s office of internal audit discovered some discrepancies in ticket records, the source said. After taking action of its own to address the situation, the university turned over those findings to the FBI.

Former Gophers ticket operations director Brent Holck, who helped start the Golden Ticket promotions program for men’s basketball in 2012, was fired in February. Holck had been the ticket manager for U athletics since 2008.

The Gophers officially announced on May 26 the hiring of assistant athletic director Ryan Dillon to fill Holck’s role.

Go Gophers!!

I was just thinking it's been too long since a scandal hit the Universities athletic department

Not seasons

We go without scandals like Alabama goes without winning football seasons.

Not seasons, games! And that might be too tight of a window on the in season timeline. It can't be daily but it almost seems like our scandal frequency is close.

Nothing about the nature of the possible fraud. As a long time season ticket holder and frequent buyer of individual game tickets to other sports, the place has been disorganized as all get out for a long time. Environments like that are ripe for fraud.

I will anxiously await to see whether all the miscommunications and screw ups over the years are linked to the possible fraud. How close was the survey to the auditors findings? Maybe we should class action sue for emotional distress!

This university always needs some type of ongoing scandal.
