Zach Lofton, the former Columbia Heights basketball star who was released by the Gophers two years ago, then transferred to Texas Southern, has withdrawn as an early candidate for next month’s NBA draft. As a junior guard last season, Lofton led Texas Southern in scoring with a 16.8-points average.

Go Gophers!!

Kinda crazy to think that a 24 year old college basketball player would still have the option of being an early entry candidate.

I stopped following him after he was kicked off of the team. Was he even close to being a second round pick?

I posted about this previously (the declaring for the NBA part, not the obvious eventual withdrawal). Zach was going the MiKyle McIntosh route of declaring for the draft with the intention of grad transferring if he didn't stay in, not sure if that is still the case. Zach was player of the year in the SWAC conference last year. http://www.swac.org/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=27400&ATCLID=211515505

How does Lofton have any eligibility left? He played juco in 2012-13 season, so his 5 year clock should be up. If he plays this year it'll be his fifth school in six years.

On Reddit, Iowa State fans are already interested; would be pretty appropriate if the king of all transfers ended up at Transfer U.

Been quite the journey for Mr Lofton since graduating high school. Prep School one year of JUCO Illinois State, Minnesota, Texas Southern and now TBD

I love the new "7 years to play 4" rule
