All Things 2018 New Gopher Uniforms Thread!

That was red, white, blue, and gold -- their state flag. Fits a little better in that context.

Those were their school colors through 1945. Again - it makes sense for them to wear that as a throwback.

Looks like the road uniforms are all-white, which is a nothingburger - no Gopher identity at all. The important thing, of course, is to win some games. Oregon's flashy uniforms became famous because they were winning. At least, with these new duds, we don't have anything as atrocious as Maryland's helmet.

People realize that NCAA rules dictate that road uniforms must be white? There is a limit on what can be worn on the road without special permission.

The pants and helmets don't have to be white.

Uniform related...I think this year the rule about requiring the pants cover the knees goes into effect. I remember someone posting a picture of a player who looked like he was wearing a pair of shorts...

I thought exceptions be granted to this? I remember UCLA and USC both wearing their home colors in the past. If I recall correctly, the 1st year it was not permitted and one of the teams and to use a timeout or something along those lines. Then the rule was changed to permit it.

Those rules are still in place. They have to get permission to not wear white jerseys on the road.

All white is appropriate attire for chaste brides. I don't want to see a squad of virgins taking the field on B1G gameday:mad:

I'm wondering if the Chrome gold actually matches better than we think, it may have just been a lighting issue, check this screen capture from the team reveal video:

It matches 100x better in this video than from the stills on the Hyprr Elite site or in the original uniform reveal video. You can also see in this shot, as confirmed by someone at the Women's Basketball game, that the Maroon Jersey is the same Maroon we know and love from the Kill-era Uniforms.

They failed to even come close to scoring in their final eight quarters of the season. All white seems very appropriate.

They were green and gold before 1945 then went to orange then back to green and gold then orange for a throw back...again, I don't think it really matters if they "make sense".

Can a school change its colors? Sure. Colorado State appears to have done it more than just about any other school. The University of Minnesota is a brand and the colors of the brand are maroon and gold. If you want to maintain a brand, you don't switch the colors all the time.

Constantly chasing new uniforms and colors is a reflection of a team chasing an identity. . . From my observation. I’m in favor of a consistent culture and a consistent identity. I hope this isn’t an every year thing, for the sake of season ticket holders.

That said, worry about winning.

Saw the all anthracite, with the white helmets. That looks awesome.

I don't disagree, but not-so-breaking news is the Minnesota football program has been chasing an identity (other than mediocrity) for 50 years. This is just another step in that chase.

OK, I thought this was extremely funny. Surprised I'm the first to comment.

I don't care if the style of the uniform changes. Just don't change the colors.

these look a lot different from the other pics, these have the big 10 logo, these White unis appear to have the M on the pants outlined in Maroon were yesterday was just in Gold/Yellow. Stipe on this White helmet is Gold, yesterday was Maroon. Guess will just have to see what appears at the opener

That's an awful attempt to photoshop over last years uniforms, nothing more.

Just my input, but the best helmets last year were the yellows . . . Now replaced by the gold mirrors? Not a fan of this change.
