Mark McGwire had Big Mac Land, Barry Bonds drilled "splash hits" into McCovey Cove, and now, the Gophers have a name for Kendyl Lindaman's frequent home run landing spot, too.

They call it "The Wall of Linda."

It's the east wall of the new Gophers football facility, which opens in January and already dominates the view at the softball stadium, like the B&O Warehouse at Camden Yards.

The Gophers call Lindaman "Linda" for short, and named the wall after her because they keep watching the freshman catcher from Iowa launch rockets that sail beyond the left field fence and carom off the football facility.

"She hits the ball harder than anybody else I've seen," Gophers coach Jessica Allister said.

The 5-10 Lindaman is only 18, but Wednesday she hit her 16th home run, breaking the Gophers single-*season record which had stood since 2003, when Jordanne Nygren smashed 15.

"The Wall of Linda."

You were right on the money when you referenced it to Camden Yards. Pretty good.

Just got done watching the home run she hit against NDSU. It was just like the poster 'MRJ' said will happen, the pitcher missed her location and it caught the inner half of the plate. She had 3 of the 9 hits against Sertic.

It's been interesting to see how different pitchers approach Lindaman. There are definitely scouting reports out there on her and I've noticed a lot of pitchers will try to keep it down and in as well as throwing to the outside edge. Still, she's so dangerous that all it takes is one mistake and she will crush it. I really like the fact that Allister moved Kendyl up in the order to number three. If either Macken or Parlich get on base, which seems to happen more often than not, they have to pitch to her with Houlihan, who is really cooking right now, batting behind her. It's provided a new challenge for pitchers and it's freed up Kendyl to get more swings.

With all that being said, a big congrats to Kendyl! Breaking the school record for homers as a freshman is incredible!

Looking forward to seeing more of her smashes in coming years!! :D :D
