Bree Horrocks:

Is transferring from Purdue following her graduation, in three years, this spring, per a release.

Horrocks, who redshirted last season due to knee and hip surgeries, will complete her degree in psychology in May. The release says she cited her academic goals and endeavors as a main reason to leave Purdue, desiring postgraduate work in subjects not offered on campus.

“We wish Bree the best of luck in her future endeavors, academically and athletically, and thank her for all the hard work over the past three seasons,” Sharon Versyp said

Maybe some surprises in there, but that does not appear to be a schedule designed to impress the RPI overlords.

If the Boilers are left outside the bubble at the end of next season, their powderpuff schedule will be a factor.

Purdue picks up a former Florida commit and Sharon Versyp is pleased (at least she says Karissa McLaughlin is an "incredible human being" and one of the "great guards in Boilermaker history":

Guard Karissa McLaughlin will be joining the Boilermaker squad next season. McLaughlin hails from Homestead High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she led the Spartans to 103-10 career record and the 2017 Indiana High School 4A State title.

"We added one of the great guards in Boilermaker history today,” said Versyp in the press release. “All of our 3-point records went on watch the moment Karissa decided to join us. She brings an extensive combo guard experience to our program with outstanding court presence, showing her ability to play the one or the two."

McLaughlin is also coming to Purdue after asking out of her letter of intent to Florida in March. She was initially recruited by Purdue.

"Not all the time you can recruit a kid once and get them back," Versyp said.

She’s a three-time First Team All-State honoree, the 2017 Gatorade Indiana Player of the Year and a finalist for Indiana Miss Basketball, set to be announced April 27. She received a variety of top-100 national recruiting rankings, including the No. 21 player in the nation from ProspectsNation.com, and was a nominee for the McDonald’s All-America game.

“You don’t often get a chance to recruit a player like Karissa, let alone a second chance,” said Versyp in the release. “She’s an incredible human being of the highest character, we’re blessed to have her call herself a Boilermaker and can’t wait to have her join us in West Lafayette.”

Dominique McBryde to transfer from Purdue.

Another Purdue women’s basketball player has decided to transfer.

Sophomore Dominique McBryde, who started 25 games during the 2016-17 season, has been granted her scholarship release by coach Sharon Versyp. If McBryde transfers to another Division I program, she’ll have to sit out next season but retain two years of eligibility.

Nearly 20 women's basketball players from the Big Ten with eligibility remaining have decided to transfer since the middle of last season...

...McBryde’s transfer leaves the Boilermakers with a void at the power forward position. The 6-foot-2 McBryde led Purdue in rebounding last season, averaging 6.3.

Her offensive game showed signs of progress, especially toward the end of her freshman season. However, that momentum didn’t carry over into her sophomore year. McBryde spent the offseason working on her outside game, extending her shooting range to become a more effective scorer. However, the Bedford North Lawrence graduate still attempted a majority of her shots inside the lane.

Anybody else see the reference to the number of players transferring out of the B10, with seven teams having at least two players transferring (Rutgers has four)? I wonder how many B10 teams are in the Gopher situation (so far) of no transfers. Northwestern, probably? Iowa? I know the Badgers have one transfer.

Ineligibility, surgery and possible surgery:

Notes: After the game, Versyp said reserve guard Tiara Murphy, who was not on the bench Wednesday, is academically ineligible and no longer part of the program. The third-year sophomore had averaged 4.2 points and 1.5 assists in about 17 minutes per game, including a 21-point outing, with six three-pointers, in the season-opening win at Central Michigan

Center Fatou Diagne, a J.C. transfer who hasn't played yet for the Boilermakers, will have surgery Friday to insert a screw in her foot. She's been out since the preseason with a stress fracture and will miss the remainder of the season. ...

Freshman forward Dani Lawson will see a doctor on Thursday to further evaluate her sore knees. She has been out since Nov. 25. If she needs surgery, she would be sidelined for the season. Without surgery, Purdue might target an early February return
