I prefer to be optimistic. Pessimists are always disappointed.

To be fair, most every significant rise in Gopher fortunes has been met with an equal or greater fall soon after (seizures, scandals, injuries - but not coaches leaving) so the feeling is justified. The same has been mostly true of Minnesota pro sports, and peeps are carrying around that baggage too.

Things are real positive around here now. I think we're all waiting for the other shoe to drop on MBB before it reaches its very real national contender status in 2017-18.

I just call it Minnesotan.

Phobias are irrational fears of something.

We are Gopher fans. . . our fear of the impending doom is completely rational.

Worrying while watching a replay of a game we already won - that would be on the irrational side, right?

For most schools, that's insane. For us, I think that is being reserved and careful.

FWIW, Woody Allen's original title for the movie "Annie Hall" was going to be "Anhedonia," but the studio said people wouldn't understand the word.
