Golden Gophers drop another close game at the Barn.

Another conference loss for the Gophers coming under a double digit margin. Akeem Springs stayed hot with 23 pts. All starters were able to reach double digits in scoring. But, they again failed to close out the game. The end was sloppy with turnovers and missed free-throws. Overall, the Gophers turned the ball over 10 times.

The team is showing some signs of overall youth when under pressure. But, these remain small gripes that are part of becoming the program the Gophers want to be.

Shooting 41% from the floor was probably the most noticeable weakness during the game as shots just would not go for the Gophers. While rebounding and defense continued to be a bright sport with a +10 rebound margin and 10 team blocks. Reggie Lynch almost managed to escape foul trouble and showed us how effective he can be on defense throughout the course of the game with 5 blocks.

Nate Mason had an interesting night offensively shooting 2-10 from the floor but 2-3 from 3-pt land and 8-8 from the free throw line. All but one of his fourteen points came in the second half.

Amir Coffey went 3-4 from deep adding 11 pts, 9 asts, and 5 rebounds (3 offensive) to a well-rounded night. As well as Eric Curry being the 6th man of today (5 pts, 10 rebs, 5 off-rebs, 2 blks, 3 asts).

Another heartbreaking loss today has added valuable experience to a good Gopher team that I believe will continue to grow and is poised to finish the season strong.
