per the oft-read Log Cabin Democrat:

Arkansas winning three out four on the road in December and January began off Minnesota flattening the Razorbacks like road kill in November.

Since losing, 85-71, t that didn’t reflect how badly the Minnesota Golden Gophers beat the Razorbacks most of that Nov. 22 game in Minneapolis, the Hogs in December beat Texas in Houston, a neutral-site game but obviously still in Texas with road game overtones even if not on the Longhorns’ Austin campus, and in the SEC won, 82-78, at Tennessee, played a great first half before losing, 97-71, at prohibitive favorite Kentucky, won, 62-60 at Texas A&M and last Tuesday rallied from down 58-43 at 6:02 after a scoreless 7:24 to surpass Vanderbilt, 71-70, at the Commodores’ Memorial Gym in Nashville, Tenn.

The Hogs’ play ” going south up north” in Minneapolis actually helped them down the road, Arkansas coach Mike Anderson believes.

“We got our heads banged at Minnesota and we learned from it,” Anderson said. “That was the key. We go back on the road and you have some success at a neutral site with Texas, which is primarily on the road. Then starting off in the conference play, Tennessee, big ballgame. Each time you go out, you gain confidence and our guys are playing the right way.”
