We're paying Fleck an average of $3.7M on this contract, and Iowa is paying Ferentz an average of $4.5M. Not an enormous difference, and he can further close that gap by performing over the next 3-4 years.
 

Zero doubt in my mind that Fleck is out of here as soon as he wins the West. That could actually happen after this year (schedule not that tough) but probably not for two or three years. My money is on Notre Dame, especially if he wins the West next year as they are already unhappy with their current coach. No hard feelings, I'd like to see him win a Big10 title but I'd settle for a West title before he goes. Row the Boat!!!!

I'm not saying that I disagree with you but he'd be a weird fit at Notre Dame.

I agree. How many games do you suppose Fleck needs to win next year for Notre Dame to go after him if Brian Kelly can't save his job?
 

You-all gonna worry about Fleck leavin'...might as well start with worrin' if the Board of Regents approve the hire, the buyouts and new assistant coach salaries at their vote in February because PJ's hire isn't official until they confirm it.

I know everyone on this board has special insight and knowledge beyond anyone's belief but I'm wondering if somewhere buried in PJ's contract is an escape clause similar to Holtz of a dream job...you think that might exist????
