per Shipley:

Where does one even start with Gophers athletics anymore except to say that the action, and maybe inaction, of 10 football players has brought the athletics department to a crossroad.

Who runs the University of Minnesota, its president or its football players?

I’m not one to discourage civil disobedience, but the football team’s boycott smells like something else — something between petulance and confusion. For one thing, they can’t win. Kaler and Coyle will not apologize, and if the suspensions are lifted, it will be because of Hutton’s appeals.

What’s left is a showdown that could shake the football program to its foundations. There will be no winners here — the program, the suspended players or, most of all, the alleged victim.

Go Gophers!!

There will be no winners, including the fascist racist EOAA board.

Black (Gopher Football Player) Lives Matter!!! Let's shut down traffic to the Viking game Sunday. You all no doubt loved that tactic this past spring and summer.

The player boycott has taken something recoverable (the suspensions) and turned it into a doomsday scenario for the program. This will go down in history as a huge mistake on their part.

But - the boycott was a direct result of the players' meeting with Coyle, and coming away frustrated with Coyle's inability to provide answers. Yes - you have every right to believe the players are in the wrong - but let's not excuse Coyle and Kaler. On a scale of 1 to 10 (with one being complete failure, and 10 being absolute success), I give Coyle and Kaler a 1.5 for their handling of this incident.

Kaler and Coyle are/were unable to answer anything without violating FERPA. However, there were 10 other guys in the room who had access to the full report, one of whom shortly thereafter gave it to KSTP. The fact that they didn't share it, or that Wolitarsky and co. got up in front of the press without reading it is beyond stupid.

Wait until Hennepin county is pressured to reopen the investigation.
