per Shipley:
Where does one even start with Gophers athletics anymore except to say that the action, and maybe inaction, of 10 football players has brought the athletics department to a crossroad.
Who runs the University of Minnesota, its president or its football players?
I’m not one to discourage civil disobedience, but the football team’s boycott smells like something else — something between petulance and confusion. For one thing, they can’t win. Kaler and Coyle will not apologize, and if the suspensions are lifted, it will be because of Hutton’s appeals.
What’s left is a showdown that could shake the football program to its foundations. There will be no winners here — the program, the suspended players or, most of all, the alleged victim.
