Based on Claeys' tweet tonight, I don't see how Coyle keeps him

You are pretty cynical, I say Claeys tweet means what it says, he supports his players, in situations like this you go with your gut, you don't sell out those that work with or for you, those that are you friends, you support them regardless of what the consensus is, I applaud the players for doing what they believe is right and I am 100% behind whatever they decide.

There are things that are more important than a football team, player, or season, if you are on the wrong side then there are those that should suffer the consequences, but that doesn't mean you don't support them.

There is more going on here than meets the eye, my guess is both the female student and football players are victims, as it is playing out probably on equal footings.

I agree. Coach Claeys is in an impossible spot here and it's really unfair to him. If he shows support for his players, he is seen in conflict with admin and to condone sexual misconduct (not that it necessarily happened). If he shows support for admin and speaks against the boycott, he loses the team and tanks his recruiting for now and years to come. If he is silent, the silence from the head coach becomes deafening and we're all wondering why he doesn't lead.

My guess is that Coach Claeys really does think these guys are being railroaded, especially the newly named players who didn't even make sexual contact, so if he's going to go down for something it may as well be what he believes in.

But he also didn't call some big press conference or issue a real statement yet, so he's trying to be as quiet as he can to this point. Which is probably good.

Time to reform the EOAA board. I get it. Those of us who have sons and daughters going to college would want feel protected and safe.

But, there is the other side of the coin. The right of the accused and fair due process.

The university is supposed to build up kids, not ruin their lives.

Yes. Fire the lot of them. It has happened before. Entire companies have fired entire staffs and shuttered doors for less. If you have no historical examples of such terminations, I would be more than happy to provide a list of them. You obviously have a Mary Poppins view of the world. Delusional, but happy. Good for you.

As for being a nut job, I am whole heartedly a nut job. And, I take that role very seriously.

I do recommend shuttering the program for a year or two. And, that way the students who have an interest in being power brokers can feel the wrath of power. They would learn more from that experience than if they won their little tantrum exercise of thinking those players rights were somehow victimized.

aight im down list em hotshot

How many players are going to want to stick around if innocent people are suspended for a year, I'm guessing football might be done at the U and probably many other non revenue sports as fallout from it.

I'm with the athletes and coaching staff on this one...I'm so proud of the team standing together as a team and the coaches for standing with the players on this. Unfortunately though, unless there's a major change in culture (and behavior) by the BoR, they will not back down and our football program will be gone for a very long time. As much as I'm a fan of the U, I'm a bigger supporter of the athletes and staff to stand up for their rights as student athletes.

Well if it has happened before then it must be a good idea.

If you do that you might as well just shut it down forever because it will take a long, long time to recover from that.

To much blind belief that Kaler wasn't aware of some of Teagues activity's and unprofessional behavior prior to the text messages incident that got him fired. There were rumblings of complaints about abuse of power in the AD, retaliation against subordinates, comments by that assistant AD of basketball and the sharing of porn on the phone. Teague and his buddy running that personal business conference entity out of the U.
The handling of the firing of the W basketball coach with a 30 second phone call. TCF usage for that MLB concert and suites usage, inappropriate affection with colleagues, comments even before the firing went down. Kaler was neither immune to Teagues activity's or insulated from them, he wasn't directly responsible but he sure didn't proactively do anything to change the culture that Teague was perpetuating while here in charge of the AD.

Cleary the correct way to handle this is to put Kaler's handling of Teague up for review by the EOAA who would subsequently find that Kaler "likely" knew of Teague's indiscretions and then subsequently lied about what he knew and should therefore be fired from the University because his actions are not in keeping with the U's policy regarding sexual harassment.

I wasn't fully in the T Claeys camp anyway. He seems like a mediocre game manager and we can likely replace him with another average coach.

Good lord. It's not a hot take if you burn down the kitchen.

No one has mentioned it because it's BS. Teague had no history of sexual harassment or anything of the sort when he was hired here. I guess Kaler was supposed to have his crystal ball ready and foresee what would happen in the future.

Not entirely accurate but they didn't know about it.

Claeys has one twitter post supporting the kids he recruited and folks think he's doing something horrible. It's not horrible to be proud of kids who are seeking justice in an injust world.
The kids may or may not have picked the right issue regarding injustice, but they sure as h3ll have the right to unionize around a cause they feel passionate about.
