Rules - a little help with an odd ending I just witnessed

Hopefully someone can help with this. My daughters team recently lost on an odd play. Other team puts up a shot a the buzzer. Our player knocks the shooter down after the horn and after the shot is up. No foul on the shot the player was knocked down after the horn. Refs awarded 3 shots which resulted in them winning. Continuation maybe? Does a foul after the horn count as a game foul?

Yes, you are still considered a shooter at that point and because the shot was taken before the buzzer the follow through is still part of live game action.

ha, not the anwser I was hoping for but oh well. Our playing had actually turned to watch and stumbled back into the player.
