Déjà vu, all over again

It was the same story on Saturday night from the night before. The Gophers started strong, they built another multi-goal lead, but still allowed St. Cloud to come crawling back.

After Jack Ramsey and Taylor Cammarata gave the Gophers a 2-0 lead after the first period, that score held until late in the second.

All the Gophers had to do was hold for five more minutes.

But the Huskies got on the board with freshman Jack Poehling making it 2-1 with six minutes left and 53 seconds later the Huskies tied the game with Jacob Benson’s second of the weekend.

All of a sudden the Gophers were tied after forty minutes of play.

Both teams fought hard in the third period but the Gophers – as they did all weekend – took an untimely penalty and Mikey Eyssimont found the back of the net and St. Cloud took a 3-2 lead for the rest of the way.

Any hockey fan, player or coach knows all about the cliche two-goal lead in hockey is never the safest, but the Gophers blew a three-goal and two-goal lead in the same weekend. And there’s no cliche that backs them up for this performance.

With the loss on Saturday, the Gophers are now 1-14 in their last 15 games against in-state teams.

Go Gophers!!

Let's add a couple years onto the Don's contract. That should help this debacle.

Sounds good but they won't. They seem to be content in just winning a weak Big 10 Championship.
