Is there even room for him anymore with all DL commits that we already have? Really hope we can get Dontye, he'd be nice addition to our secondary

The Gophers can't go wrong with Dontye or Darius or both.

I take it the Gophers are out of the picture with Demariyon Houston and Isaiah Hookfin?

6’6” 250 lb DE, yes you take him.

I believe it's been said on here that if Houston were to commit on signing day this week then the gophers would be the most likely destination but he is still holding out for an Oklahoma offer. We are his latest OV.

And people on here seem to believe Texas is the team to beat for Hookfin as they were his most recent OV.

hungan1: It's not uncommon for a recruit (in football or basketball) to list a school in his final X number of schools that wouldn't actually accept his commitment. I am not saying that is the case with either of Robinson or Williams, but it's always something to keep in mind. You also see kids announce that they are de-committing when the reality is they've been dropped for one reason or another.

I'm curious to see how Rossi sets the defense from the get-go. He may want two bigger DEs to set the edge in a 4-3 set as opposed to the hybrid 3-4 we are running now. Maybe that's why we are seeing so many DLs in the class.

Currently 35th on Rivals, 8th in Big Ten, 4th in Big Ten West. 12th in Big Ten in average star rating.
33rd on 24/7, 8th in Big Ten, 4th in Big Ten West. 13th in Big Ten in average star rating.

So, being in the 30's is better than it was under Kill, but it seems we haven't really made a big jump relative to other Big Ten teams. Has the Big Ten recruiting overall improved and we're just trying to keep pace?

I don't know where you got this info, but it isn't true. Other coaches probably have been in his ear about it.

Agreed - I'm not buying it. If you have a Michigan prospect with (apparently) commitable offers from both Michigan and MSU, you take him if you can get him - ESPECIALLY if he's an OL or DL.

That being said, it sounds like he's going to Colorado and this will be a moot point either way.

I could very well be wrong, but all of the CB's from the experts went our way last week. As soon as Kristian Williams committed, all of the CB's went foggy, then to Colorado. Since nothing had changed on his end, it appeared we were full. Plus we have 5-6 d-linemen already in the class.

Taking out the gray shirts (since they are part of next year’s class), we are in line with anyone in the West. If you take out specialists too, it gives you a better idea of how our skill players rank relative to other teams in the B1G, and last I looked it’s something like an 86.5 average.

If you take the QB out of play, we've won 8 B1G titles in the last 50 years. smh It is what it is and "ifs" aren't part of it. BUT, IF you did that, our overall ranking goes lower.

Thanks for posting! Fun to read how many offers and the quality of the schools these kids have all in one spot. Also, QB competition will be fun in spring 2019.

The gray shirts aren’t really an If since they are part of next year’s class... Which is why Logan shows up in this year’s class. I was only noting the specialist piece as an “If” to illustrate that our relative position in the B1G is also moving up.

Side note, DeAngelo Carter got a nice bump from 24/7 today!

Agreed that it kinda appears that way. But if he wants in he can still jump in the boat. I won't go too much further than that as info is behind paywalls but we did not tell him we were full.

I realize that. Two other B1G teams have specialists as recruits, and they are both in the West. If you want to axe our, axe there's as well....they'll move up too. IU has a long snapper committed (behind us in overall ranking, but ahead of us in per player ranking), and Purdue has punter committed (ahead of us in all aspects of rankings).

My point was the "ifs" are meaningless. The class is what it is and tinkering with it to paint a desired negative good or bad can't be done.

As far as the underlined part, we are currently down a spot from last year. Things aren't done, but I don't know how that's moving up.

Remember the old days when Gopher recruits also held offers from places like Buffalo, Akron, Texas State, Princeton, Arkansas State, South Alabama, Florida Atlantic, and so on...? I'd pull up a player profile on the internet and see all of the other offers along with some very low-budget team logos. I like how things are now.:)

I remember several Florida kids who flipped to South Florida and UCF. Now we are holding off Miami and FSU for them. The difference is remarkable.

Interesting that he includes Udoibok among those enrolling in January. He's either mistaken or Udoibok is no longer a grayshirt.

Ryan has some interesting J Williamson speculation. Seems to think he'll be a versatile playmaker either on offense or defense. It'll be interesting to see how Fleck utilizes him during spring game.
