Can play with Penn St.

The Gophers will face Penn State on Saturday for the first time in three years.

Somewhat surprisingly, the Gophers are 5-8 in 13 games against the Nittany Lions in their history.

The Gophers won the most recent contest under coach Jerry Kill in 2013. Before that, Penn State had won four in a row in the series. But the Gophers had won four in a row under Glen Mason from 1999 to 2004. Penn State won the first four meetings between 1993 and ’98 after joining the Big Ten.

And there’s a good reason Penn State is only favored by 2½ at home to a Gophers team that hasn’t dominated yet. The Nittany Lions gave up 515 yards, seven touchdowns, 11 third-down conversions and six sacks in a 49-10 blowout loss at Michigan last week.

Go Gophers!!

Penn State hasn't been elite in a long time so not sure why Sid seems surprised that the Gophers have a chance to play with and even beat them. Although their glory days are more recent than ours they have not been dominant in quite some time and really since they have come into the Big Ten the Gophers have played a number of close games with them. Beating Penn State in Happy Valley tomorrow would not be a shocker by any stretch of the imagination.

Sid is like the opposite-Lou Holtz.....

Lou: Super negative during the week, don't know how we're going to compete against "The University of the Navy," team ends up outstanding
Sid: Super negative during the game, team won't win 3 games rest of the year, Wisconsin will win by 3 TD's, during the week, he pumps them up & team can win.
