Media Prediction Thread: Minnesota at Penn State

Lancaster Online chimes in:

Outlook: Minnesota will be playing on the road, and in the conference, for the first time.

For what it’s worth, Penn State OL coach Matt Limegrover was the offensive coordinator at Minnesota last year.

The Gophers have run up big numbers on the ground so far, and Penn State’s defensive front seven has been shaky at best, especially with the LB corps injury-ravaged.

Penn State, meanwhile has thrown the ball effectively except for last week, and Minnesota’s defense is beat up and very inexperienced on the back end.

In short, this should be the kind of shootout we thought we’d see a lot of this season.

Prediction: Penn State 38, Minnesota 34.

Go Gophers!!

Minnesota (plus 3) at Penn State: Not sure where to go on this. Penn State is hurting at linebacker, but the Gophers will be without sack-master Tai'yon Devers. I'll take the points in a tight one.

INTANGIBLES

Penn State is historically good at home, the Gophers have several key players making their first Big Ten road trip, and there's a 50 percent chance of rain. Advantage: Penn State

JOE'S PREDICTION

37 31

PSU MINN

Penn State is vulnerable, but the Gophers have yet to show they have the offense or defensive consistency needed to win a road game like this.
