per the Portland Tribune:

Claeys doesn’t know second-year OSU coach Gary Andersen well, but met him when Andersen was the head coach at Wisconsin. Andersen’s Badgers beat the Gophers 20-7 at Minnesota in 2013 and 34-24 at Madison in 2014.

“Gary does a very good job preparing his teams,” Claeys says. “He did a tremendous job at Wisconsin adapting to the personnel they had as they continued to be successful.”

The Beavers, who went 2-10 last season, will go into the Minnesota game as heavy underdogs.

“What you did last year doesn’t have anything to do with this year,” Claeys says. “The teams that work hard and prepare get rewarded. Their second year with Gary, I look for them to be a lot better. It should be a good game.”

Claeys isn’t shooting low with this year’s Gophers. He hopes they will win the Big Ten’s West Division, which includes Iowa, Northwestern, Wisconsin and Nebraska, and advance to the conference championship game Dec. 3 at Indianapolis.

“We’ve been here six years now,” says Claeys, speaking of the coaches who arrived at Minneapolis with Kill. “We should be in a position to have an opportunity to go to Indianapolis. When we get to the end of November, hopefully we’re still in the discussion. If we’re not, we’ll be disappointed.”
