YES!!! Grant Ryerse Commits to Gophers!!!!!!!!!

How is the #2 kicker in the country rated so low? Kickers are very important, so why the hate from the star rankings?

Who cares? Just let him kick and screw the stars.

Stars don't matter. Dots are where it is at.

I don't know what is happening with Grant Ryerse with the Gophers Kicking. Something went wrong. But, maybe something will start clicking given time.

Emmit Carpenter is graduating at the end of this school year. This position is so important to Special Teams that the Gophers are not sitting around. The Gophers bought an insurance policy by offering Gopher commitment from North Carolina Camden Lewis.

I don't know if it is confidence, attitude, accuracy, or none of the above with Grant. Hopefully, he comes around because he has shown he has the leg.

What are you talking about? Ryerse is a redshirt Freshman kicking behind one of the best kickers in the country. Most programs have at least four kickers on the roster. What a bizarre post.

I heard rumblings that he won't be kicking for the Gophers any time soon. I hope this is just hearsay.

From 2019 Official Recruiting Updates:
If Ryerse isn't going to play, I wouldn't mind seeing him go

I think we're a bit heavy on WR's, and some of younger WR's getting passed up, I wouldn't be surprised
RB-Few candidates
CB-few

And I'm hopeful he sticks, but Tanner Morgan might see 2 incoming QB's and and already passed up, I wouldnt' be shocked

Well said.

Hungans post isnt bizarre given the expectations of Ryerse and the fact that he is on scholarship. Ryerse isnt exactly a lock to win the kicking job once Carpenter graduates. Far from it.

It's not bizarre at all. Ryerse is on scholarship and isn't even the backup. Moreover, Fleck recruited another K on scholarship behind him. Logic suggests that Ryerse will leave the team in the offseason.

Good cuz it'll be key to replace Carpenter for next year's Rose Bowl run!

The coaching staff might have big plans for Ryerse. Maybe he will fill the role of wild cat kicker/punter. The opposition will have no clue what's coming. Regular punts, rugby style squibs, field goal tries, drop kicks, onside kicks, or kickoffs. Just think of all the possibilities when they get him to commit to becoming the wild cat kicker/punter!

Just me speculating on who might transfer. I have no inside knowledge, but the few rumblings I've heard (I think Ryan Burns) he hasn't looked good

Episode 116: Special Teams Overview

Discussions on Grant Reyerse - time stamp 5:50-@11ish.

"It's hard to figure what you are doing with Mr. Reyerse". "You have a scholarship specialist that if you can't figure out a role for him this year, what are you doing?" "He was brought as a kicker, but that didn't really work."... "Does Grant Ryerse make an appearance (this year)? I am not betting on it."

You read whatever you want into it. It appears that he is not quite ready yet. Just don't give up on this kid yet.

The Gophers are taking special teams very seriously and have made moves to bring in a grad transfer punter from SMU, offered a scholarship and received commitments from a kicker and a long snapper to have multiple options.

Ryerse needs to seize the moment, put in the hard work, and wait for his shot. Of course, he always has the option to transfer. The Gophers want these special teamers to compete and show something special.
