Ricky Foggie HC at Eagan - UPDATED: Foggie has withdrawn as a candidate

Throw some mud out there and for what purpose ? Make you feel like somebody?

Would I be throwing mud to say he resigned as o coordinator at Burnsville less than a week before the first practice on the way out?

Guy doesn't have a good reputation in coaching circles.

You have no idea what you are talking about. This would be a consent agenda item at the board meeting, with no board discussion. Something came up in the hiring process after he was selected as the final candidate, and the article said he withdrew his name. So it could be as simple as that. The board aspect of this type of hire though is simply a consent agenda item, a formality.

Really? I was on two boards and a city council. NO hiring was on the consent agenda. Ever.

I work with school boards all the time, and all hires are consent agendas with the exception of the superintendent. A council is very different than a governance board.

He posted adult images to his social media.

Not according tot he Star Tribune.

According to Foggie and his supporters, the Eagan administration rejected his candidacy after learning that he may have inadvertently followed, and liked, a Twitter account that promotes a pornography website. At first Foggie was asked to take his Twitter site down and speak to the football players about it, which he did Monday morning. He was called back by Eagan administrators Monday evening, where he was confronted again about the Twitter site.

Probably a little embarrassing, but I wouldn't call this a "Dorsey-like situation." But that's just me.

Good object lesson to younger people. You have to be careful with social media. I see kids posting things on Twitter and Facebook all the time that, if I was evaluating them for a job, would give me severe reservations. At the very least, they would have to explain it during the job interview.

In this case, I doubt that Rickey Foggie is sitting at home watching porn every night. But even if it is a stupid mistake, it may be enough to derail a coaching position.

Did you see the images? Because I did

Also keep in mind that the story in the star tribune is 100% Foggie's story and the district would not legally be allowed to comment on much.

by Dorsey like situation I meant to refer to the fact he unintentionally posted pornographic images on his social media. Which he did. I did not mean to imply that they were of himself. They weren't. But I could see where it would be taken that way.

now the Fog will sue and try and get the '50K and walk away'. as we say in the biz.

I can't believe Ricky didn't do the old "my account was hacked" and delete the account. Doesn't he know anything about shirking responsibility?

I get that he shouldn't have posted something like that, butt what kind of lesson does it teach that someone who admitted he made a mistake rather than blaming anyone else is punished? Had he maintained his feed was hacked, he'd probably still be there...

Pat using a GH photo (Unregistered User, if my memory is correct) in a tweet about Foggie:

Go Gophers!!

Knowing the administration there, they were concerned a successful football program could detract from the Speech and Theater programs.
So their athletes are a feeder system for the U then. [emoji41]

If that's the photo the school saw, concern is very understandable.

And I thought it was something salacious.

For heaven's sake, why post Ph@tpr!ck's doctored image? He is not worth losing your job for.

Eagan has hired a new coach not named Foggie.
Unfortunately for Foggie, his accusations of racism when in fact it was not due to racism will likely see him not get another interview at another 6A school for the near future.

but the walkaway money is 50K...well, 25K after attorney fees.

IMO, anyone who claims racism as the factor is being racist themselves.

Did it ever occur to Foggie that they found a better candidate?

I think being head coach with assistant experience is better than being an assistant at STA. Although STA is a good program. I don't think race had a huge part, (probably none), chalk it up to an angry group of parents that didn't get their guy and saw it as an opportunity to remove Foggie and get their coach in there.

From what I understand, you would be wrong. Foggie is getting what he deserves. Nothing to be learned or earned but valuable lessons.

Chalk it up to angry parents who didn't get their guy combined with someone liking pornographic images on his social media combined with him resigning a position he was never officially offered by the school board...

Why would the walk away money for a 7k position that he was never approved as a hire and he resigned be worth 25k?

The best he could possibly hope for in court is probably 7k for the salary he lost....but that probably isn't even worth hiring legal to go after
