Sweet Feet is moving to a tough conference. Eagan has flashed a couple times, but mostly been mediocre.

Najarian chimes in:

Najarian is extremely well connected and loves the U. He has stated he will do whatever Coyle asks of him to help out. I hope we hear plenty from him. He is a huge asset!

No kidding. How dare a very successful former player fully support his school, endlessly speak positively about it, and express interest in it's vacant AD position.

Very happy that Rickey Foggie is building a very nice HS coaching career. To this day he is my favorite Gopher of all time.

Agreed. We need more guys like him.

Yeah, so he says. Can't remember hearing much from him before the opening for A.D. Wonder if his name is on TCF or how much of the $90,000,000 raised for facilities he personally encouraged donors to contribute?

You're right about Coach Foggie. Good Luck to him. As for Peter, not much Gopher talk since he lost the job. Much like before the job opened up?

So the Pioneer Press is now reporting that Foggie will not be the coach. Mums the word from Eagan. Anyone know the scoop?

Here is the article:

Rickey Foggie will not be Eagan’s football coach.

The former Gophers quarterback seemed to have accepted the job May 13 after two seasons at Red Wing, but district communication specialist Tony Taschner said Tuesday that was never official.

“He has been withdrawn as a candidate,” Taschner said.

The hire, Taschner said, was never approved by the school board. He declined to comment on the reason that Foggie has been dropped. Eagan activities director Sandra Setter and District 196 superintendent Jane K. Berenz did not immediately return calls asking for comment. Foggie was listed as Eagan’s football coach on the Minnesota State High School League website as of Monday, but now the position is now listed as “TBD.”

Not really. School board needs to approve. Didn't. EOS.

You have no idea what you are talking about. This would be a consent agenda item at the board meeting, with no board discussion. Something came up in the hiring process after he was selected as the final candidate, and the article said he withdrew his name. So it could be as simple as that. The board aspect of this type of hire though is simply a consent agenda item, a formality.

Kevin Dorsey could empathize in this situation

Should have hired a search firm and this may have been avoided.

Knowing the administration there, they were concerned a successful football program could detract from the Speech and Theater programs.

I think they were more concerned about the type of arts that were being promoted on social media

Actually it said his name had been withdrawn. I took that as the school is no longer considering him not that Foggie was no longer interested.

It wasn't you I said didn't know what you were talking about :). Maybe Strib corrected it, as it now says he withdrew his name.

I took no offense to anything you posted. It just appears that there was confusion as to who pulled out of the deal. Thanks for clarifying.

So the same administration that runs the U also runs the Eagan school board?
