Chip Scoggins: Gang of 16 interviewers clogging search for Gophers AD

Anytime you have a committee of 16 PLUS a search committee, you have a cluster.

You don't get things done that way.

Leaders lead, people pleasers run in circles and pussyfoot.

For what it's worth the Champaign paper under the FOIA obtained records for Illinois' AD search:

The search firm, Korn-Ferry was paid $140,000 + expenses.

Illinois conducted their interviews in Indianapolis. In addition to the seven member search committee, there were the Chancellor, Associate Chancellor, the Chancellor's HR staffer and the two Korn-Ferry reps. Expenses for this group ran around $11,000. The search committee traveled to Indy by university van.

Candidates were flown in from College Station, State College (Hmmm), Fort Lauderdale and Phoenix on the Illini dime (about $11,000) for the interviews. Of course they chose the guy that drove over from St. Louis.
