Ignore the obvious in the Big Ten this week of the draft.

It's cold. It's gray. It's Belt is made of Rust. Jim Harbaugh is a break-out reality star. We've heard it all before.

It's also been 21 years since the conference of Tom Brady and Drew Brees had a quarterback selected in the first round of the NFL Draft. Kerry Collins (Penn State, 1995), take a bow. You're a piece of increasingly meaningless trivia if you care.

Meanwhile, the world is missing the larger story.

The Big Ten is back in a way that defies snark. For real. This is a hand-raising, flag-waving endorsement of the league that has failed only to annex Puerto Rico in expansion.

Go Gophers!!

I would bet the farm Connor Cook will have more wins as a NFL QB than Carson Wentz.
