Rivals 5star #2 dt in the country. Last time we offered one of those?

Brewster offered Chris Davenport, a 5-star DT from Louisiana who ended up at LSU. Rod Davis was a 4-star DT who ended up at Texas A&M.

Same school as Brown, though a much higher rated player. Whoever is working Missouri right now is sure getting around the block.

That guy has a good collection of logos.

How many WR are we going to take in this class?

Benny Sapp III at EP is the best player in the class, he's probably out of reach though: http://247sports.com/Player/Benjamin-Sapp-III-82071

Trey Lance could blow up, not sure if he sticks at QB but he's a good athlete and can really sling it: http://247sports.com/Player/Trey-Lance-93591

David Alston is another name to keep an eye on: http://247sports.com/Player/David-Alston-46037064

Interesting that Sapp gets that much interest despite low 3* ratings? Why is he out of the reach of our Elite coach?

Because he's not from Minnesota and he's developed relationships with a lot of coaches in the South.

It'd be pretty elite to see a Marshall Tiger sign with the Gophers in three consecutive recruiting classes. It was a program with little to no football history prior to the last three or four years (that's what happens when you're stuck in the same section as Hutchinson). I think the last Marshall kid to play football at the U was in like 1991, and he only lasted two seasons. Now Hmielewski is on the roster and Blaise Andries is about to join him, with Trey Lance as a 2018 possibility.

It'll be interesting to see the geography of Fleck's recruiting develop in this class. We know that STL, Chicago, Indy, Detroit, Cleveland are gonna be the main hubs. I'm sure that'll spread a little farther east too (PA and Jersey). Usually at mid majors, coaches don't recruit outside the region too much and that was the case with him at WMU. I'm curious to see where else they hit hard. Just looking back at classes there they went into Florida probably the most outside of the immediate circle. Think we'll still see the deep south as a priority? Texas? Maybe see some more recruiting out west? Sure there will be kids randomly here and there from spots that aren't pipelines but I'm talking in general

David Alston from Woodbury got an offer from Iowa State today, his first P5 offer.

Certainly seems to be quite the difference in recruiting philosophy than the previous Director of Recruiting Operations said they were working under.

I'm trying to pay more attention to the earlier part of the recruiting cycle because I'm curious to see how Fleck improves this program in terms of recruiting. Looking at the 247 offers list for 2018, there are 11 4-star athletes with MN offers. How does that compare to previous seasons at this stage of the game (more aggressive/less aggressive than the past)?

I feel like with 4* guys we won't know until next year or so. This lat minute croot'n has to be a bit of a different game than the long con.

I have no idea if we have more of a shot at some of these big names than we did in other seasons, but this is pretty common.

We offered 23 4 star players last year and 1 5 star. They were mostly earlier (like this list).

PJ is probably offering a few more by this time of the year.

Watching his Hudl video, he has quick feet in the pocket. Almost seems jittery or anxious at times though. Either way, one helluva prospect!
