Official 2018 Recruiting Updates Thread: Links, Tweets, Videos, Stories, Rumors, etc.

Per 247sports, we have a lot of offers out to JC transfers for the OL. How does a JC transfer get calculated into the "max of 25 recruits per year" formula?

It counts the same as a HS signee

They need to take Armstrong off the commits on the TDG grid.

Yes. Now 25 availabile with Register’s departure.

Has this been confirmed?

So we have:
Croft - transfer
Connelly - medical retirement
Still - transfer
Register - transfer?
Holland - grad transfer
E. Williams - grad transfer

We have six so far.

It looks like changing of the guard in the WR corps.

Wait! What?

PJ told us he builds through hs kids, specifically not jc.

Evidently the impatient fans are causing him to seek help for next year.

Or by the time he got to the end of the season, he couldn't believe how dismal our 2015 class is so we need to reload it somehow.

If I'm not mistaken all the JC offers are O-Line. Something we desperately need until the young guys develop. If we can get the two JC O-Linemen and add Andries to what we had this year it would me a major upgrade. With a new QB and some new WR's like Bateman we could see major improvement on the offensive side of the ball.

Go Gophers!!

A huge congratulations to Victor and to Coach Fleck!

Let's hope that this will persuade Curtis Dunlop to become a Gopher.

Now we need an O-Line that will protect him and open lanes for our run game.

Wasn't the word that Michigan wanted him to play LB? Not sure what happened at Cal.

I believe he redshirted in 2016 under Sonny Dykes - then Wilcox was hired.
According to 247 report on his transfer, sounded like there was some speculation he may play LB there as well. He certainly had great prep stats and had high rankings.

In order for us to challenge Wisconsin, we need to be on par or out-recruit them in succeeding years.

Then, we can match then with power and speed. etc...

Dunlap is still in high school, at IMG with Zack Annexstad. BTW, Zack is getting my team-player of the year award and he's not even a Gopher yet. Zack doesn't have a scholarship (he's a PWO), and in a large sense by him trying to get Dunlap a Gopher scholly, he's giving up on the idea of getting one himself. At this point, by his play in his senior year and our not having other class of 2018 QBs, I think he's earned one. We just don't have a lot of extra slots to offer many more folks. Zack comes from a family that's pretty well off (at least his close relatives are) so money probably isn't a big issue, but I still think it's great that a PWO is helping us recruit a big-time OL. So, a toast to both of our incoming QBs

Do you think it's possible that Fleck still prefers to bypass the JC route, but has had to alter his preference due to circumstances? The late John Maynard Keynes replied to a fellow economist when challenged that he was flip-flipping: "When my information changes, I alter my conclusions. What do you do, sir?"

Well worth your while: If you watch his HUDL clip, he reminds me a lot of Tommy Olson. He definitely follows through on his blocks and eventually the opponent ends up being pancaked. Ended up being all-conference. I like this guy...he's mean.
Yep.

Zack sounds like the type of selfless players that you want in your program. It is quite extra ordinary for him to PWO so that his team mate can be in a position to get a scholie if he wants to be a Gopher.
