Official 2018 Recruiting Updates Thread: Links, Tweets, Videos, Stories, Rumors, etc.

If there are experts in the MN football talent scene that he pales in comparison to I'm all ears.

Below copy/pasted from a couple searches:

Shawn Zobel Director of Player Personnel | National Rugby Football League

National Rugby Football League is a potential startup professional rugby union league currently owned by RugbyLaw, LLC., a Minneapolis, Minnesota-based sports and entertainment company.

Yup...been spending his whole life scouring the college ranks to become an NFL draft "expert"

Also there are several links you can find about how he changed his draft "picks" after the draft to appear more accurate.

He has that important Darren Wolfson testimonial so cred is way up.

Shawn Zobel is a coach at EP and an NFL draft expert (EP players have slipped through recruiting cracks here in recent years). Doesn't touch on Montero but says that MN has Rose Bowl caliber talent if gophers know how to tap into it.

Starts around halfway through:

"Expert" - good stuff. Which Eden Prairie players have "slipped through the cracks" in recent years?

And his entire premise is insanely idiotic. A team composed entirely (or even mostly) of MN HS players would be bottom quartile of the Big Ten - and that's being kind.

Our WRs would be incredible from what I understand.

WRs are allowed to "go get it"?

Not trying to be a buzz kill, but didn’t they say that about McDonald too?

Here’s what i am watching as we close out recruiting:

1. QB. Vic is here Sunday. Is it possible he commits on his visit? Do we continue to go after an additional prep QB?
2. Curtis Dunlap visit on 12/8. Is Florida’s turmoil our gain? If Florida is still coachless and we get him here it would be huge.
3. Safety. It looks like we have all corners. Does Dallas Craddieth come up for an OV?

We have been lacking that so much. The only 2 receivers I can think of in the last 10 years that have done that are Decker and Williams.

I think that McKnight was pretty aggressive fighting for the ball as well.

Well.. it's now off-season. Hope Fleck gets on the road Monday and hits the road hard until Dec. 20th

per Sid:

• The Gophers will enter next season still needing a long-term solution at quarterback, and coach P.J. Fleck said they’re working on that. “We are looking at all quarterbacks right now for 2018. I would like to be able to take more than one. … If it is a junior college quarterback, I usually don’t like to take guys who only have two years.”

Any update on Curtis Dunlap, we could really use him next year.

He is coming up with Zack Annexstad on December 8 for the mass official visit if nothing happens between now and then with the coaching situation down in Florida where he is currently committed. We are counting on Zack and his older brother Brock who is a 2017 PWO to help recruit him.

I hope that there is good news with So Cal Dual QB Victor Viramontes this weekend. Getting him committed may help attract other players.

We need to get Montero in here.

Montero won't get a scholarship offer from PJ no matter how hard you lobby social media and message boards for it to happen. If he wants to get a scholarship from the Gophers, he'll have to walk-on and earn it with stellar play pure and simple.

Per 247sports, we have a lot of offers out to JC transfers for the OL. How does a JC transfer get calculated into the "max of 25 recruits per year" formula?

Will they be counted against previous classes?

After yesterday’s departures, we currently have 24 scholarships available.
