He isn't getting into other schools due to academics. Hard to imagine it wasn't the issue at ND. According to reports he is going JuCo due to admission road blocks at multiple schools - so no, he isn't going JuCo to not sit. When it looks and sounds like a duck, it is a duck.

Yeah if he can't get into MN and such, the bar at ND is high. His "choice" might have been that he knew he couldn't cut it at ND and jumped ship before he was thrown off, same difference either way.
 

He's going to Iowa Western. If he gets straight he will be a Gopher.
 

So, same timeline, right?

If he was a Gopher he'd have to sit a year...now he goes Iowa Western for a year and is eligible to play the following season. If it works out...everything is as it should be for the Gophers.

Assuming there is equal benefit in playing JuCo a year vs practicing & being with the Gophers for the year, yes. The point is moot - sounds like he is taking the only real option he had. There was no choice here.

We don't know that for sure. It is possible that he could've gotten into an FBS school with lower academic requirements, but didn't want to go that route.
