Early Look At 2016-17 B1G Non-Conference Schedules

It looks like Purdue will actually be playing Louisville and Ohio State will be playing Virginia in the Challenge. Either the original report was wrong or the matchups got switched at the last minute.

Yes! Gophers deemed 1 of the 2 Monday sh*t games for ACC Challenge

Wake Forest @ Northwestern is the other one.

George Washington has announced that the date for the Penn State game is Nov. 26.

Purdue will host NJIT

Boilers non-conference schedule almost complete. Need 1 game.

Here is a roundup of some rumors I have seen on various message boards involving scheduling with BIG teams:

-Maryland will have home games against American and St. Peter's, as well as a neutral site game with La Salle. Not sure where the La Salle game would be played if it's true, possibly in Baltimore just like their game with Princeton this past season.

-Minnesota will host Northern Illinois. The poster on the NIU message board who typed this also mentioned Alabama as a possible game, so this could be one of your home games for the Vegas tournament.

-I have also seen that Purdue will host Cleveland State on Dec. 10. If that is the case, it would appear that Purdue's schedule is done, unless NJIT is the mysterious fourth visiting team in the Cancun Challenge.

Here are the links that show what I mentioned if you want to take a look for yourself.

Northern Illinois @ Gophers

Thanks. All added above.

NIU likely would be a decent opponent for Gophers. #136 in RPI last season.

Playing on Monday

Wake Forest @ Northwestern is the other one.

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Other than the 4 games designated for ESPN, playing on Monday is probably more a product of not being in an exempt Tourney the weekend after Thanksgiving than the expected quality of the game. If they are regulated to ESPNU instead of ESPN2 even on Monday (ESPN will have MNF), then it really will be a slap in the face.

Homecoming for Tartan/Hill Murray Alum Marshawn Wilson. Should be a solid test against a upper tier MAC squad.

Northwestern significantly upgrades non-conference schedule

Two Wildcats Legends Classic opponents are still TBD. One will be Colorado, Notre Dame, or Texas, all NCAA qualifiers last season. After last year's laughable non-conference schedule, Chris Collins has significantly upgraded the slate, as the Wildcats will play 4 NCAA qualifiers (Butler, Dayton, and 2 of Colorado/Notre Dame/Texas).

For now assuming Gophers are out of Men Who Speak Out Main Event in Las Vegas

TJGopher alluded to this earlier.

It now sounds like Gophers are out of the Las Vegas event with Alabama, BYU, and Valpo. Am assuming the Arkansas home game is part of an exempt 4-game Multi-Team Event. 2 of the other 3 games certainly would be at Williams Arena, the 4th (if not another home game) a neutral-site game vs. presumably a decent opponent.

Since Arkansas is a home and home will we be doing this event two years a row, sucks that will have one less decent game on the schedule, but I suppose Pitino wants as many wins as possible this year out of conference.

Since Arkansas is a home and home will we be doing this event two years a row?

Highly doubt we'd be in the same Multi-Team Event with Arkansas two years in a row. Our end of the home-and-home likely just worked into this year's event.
