per the Detroit News:

TaMarion Johnson grew up dreaming of one day playing in the Big Ten.

His dream came true Wednesday when he signed to play with Minnesota, picking the Gophers over Purdue and Iowa State.

Johnson’s ceiling is high after playing the past year at 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds. He had 14 sacks from his defensive end position for Southfield Bradford Academy this past fall.

“I took a visit last Saturday, talked with the coaches, some players and had the opportunity to check out the campus, facilities and everything they had to offer,” said Johnson, who is ranked No. 33 on The News’ Blue Chip list. “I like how they have plans for me, wanting me to be a rush passer and showing how they plan on making me be the all-around complete player.

“It’s a dream come true because I’ve wanted to play in the Big Ten since I was a little kid. It’s going to be fun to play against other Big Ten teams that looked over me since I have something for them.”
