Gopher Softball - 2016

Allister electing to go with Anderson against NDSU in the elimination game.

Being the superstitious sort, not going to do my annoying posts during the game. Have to change something to get the W.

Gophs win 7-5. Sydney Fabian with a 3 run opposite field bomb tonight. They will face #13 Washington tomorrow in the regional championship, but must beat them twice in a row to move on to super regionals. Statistically, odds aren't on their side, but all it'll take is a 2-0 day tomorrow and they're on to a super-regional. We'll see how much fight they've got in them. Figure Groenewegen in the circle for the duration of the day. Bats and fielding have to pick up in a big way.

B1G Results

Northwestern eliminated, went 1-2.
Nebraska eliminated, went 2-2.
Illinois eliminated, went 1-2
Ohio State is 1-1 and plays Tennessee today. Must beat the Vols and follow that up with a couple of wins against Arizona to advance. All today. Things aren't as bad as they could be for the Gophers.
Michigan is 2-0 and faces Notre Dame.
Minnesota, as GameDay posted, won last night and is 2-1 and must beat Washington twice. Game is at 2 PM

Well, it was a good year, 43-14. Nothing to sneeze at. 19-3 in conference. Big Ten Tournament champs. Hoping one of next years newcomers is the real deal in the circle, ready to perform at this level immediately. Asking a lot, but it's really needed.
Also all three outfield spots and catcher. It will be interesting. Allister has done a very good job, but wonder if she is questioning not bringing in a pitcher for this year?
Going to miss those Seniors. They had a pretty good run.

We need to recruit the Southeast/ Southwest really heavy. I watched Louisiana/ Lafayette today. Some really top players.

14 of the 16 seeds win their region. (Counting Oregon in even though the game is still in progress. They lead 5-0 in the bottom of the 5th.)

#1 Florida went 3-0 and will play #16 Georgia, 3-1
#2 Michigan went 3-0 and will play #15 Missouri, 3-0
#3 Oklahoma went 3-0 and will play #14 La-Lafayette, 3-0

2 Pac 12 teams that weren't seeded upend seeded SEC squads.
Michigan carrying the B1G banner and Oklahoma doing the same for the Big 12, while Florida State reps the ACC.
6 SEC teams left.
5 Pac 12 teams left.

Sarah was fantastic as a freshman pitcher. It's the biggest thing this team needs. Someone else to pitch. Great season for the team although I was hoping they could go further.
